Street Parish Council is made up of 16 Councillors (members) who form the full Council. Members are there to give strategic direction and make decisions. The Council is supported by four Officers who are employed to advise and to implement the decisions made by the Council and its Committees.
Council business is conducted either at full Council meetings – which generally take place on the third Tuesday of each month (please check the calendar for the latest agreed dates) or through one of its five Committees:
- Culture and Events Committee
- Highways Advisory Committee
- Planning Advisory Committee
- Policy and Finance Committee
- Staffing Committee
Each Committee have delegated powers which set out what decisions they can make and which must be resolved by the full Council. The Terms of Reference set out the powers and may include a dedicated budget and powers of spend.
Generally, Committees are appointed each year during the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council which takes place in May. At this meeting, membership for each Committee is agreed and each Committee’s Terms of Reference are reviewed and approved by the full Council.
