Shoppers in Street, Somerset, can rejoice, as a new weekly market is set to launch later this month.
The new market is set to launch on Thursday 14 June with the stalls trading weekly in the High Street and Farm Road on alternate weeks from 9am to 4pm. On the first Thursday of the month, the market will run in the afternoon/evening running from 1pm to 8pm.
Cllr Nigel Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Health, said: “We hope that this market is going to offer something a little different for shoppers, it’s the first time that Mendip has run a regular evening market.
“The weekly market alternating between Farm Road and the High Street will be an added bonus to the retail experience already available in Street and we believe it will become a well-established Mendip Market, adding to the ones already run in Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Wells each week.”
The market will host of mix of stalls, from everyday basics to artisan food and treats to tempt everyone, familiar stalls from other Mendip markets will be present but the team are looking for new traders to add to the mix.
The markets team are always looking for traders who can offer something different at their markets, for the Street market the team are keen to hear from producers of good food. If you are interested in becoming a trader, please contact the council’s market team on 0300 303 8588 and ask to speak to the markets officer or email email@example.com
