**OFFICIAL OPENING OF STREET SKATEPARK EVENT – A FUN-FILLED AFTERNOON!!!***

**IT’S OFFICIAL… STREET SKATEPARK HAS BEEN FORMALLY OPENED!!!***

A huge 😍THANK YOU🥰 to all of those who attended the reopening of Street Skatepark on Monday 15th August! We had a fantastic time with you.

It was so inspiring to see the young people enjoying the park and performing their impressive tricks with all their bits of kit! We had scooters-a-plenty, skateboarders, BMXers and even a young chap on a pair of roller skates!🚲🛴🛹🤟

It was an honour to spend time with all the families and local young people, as well as our Chair of Council, Cllr. Laura Wolfers – Chair 22-23, and The High Sheriff of Somerset, who together officially opened the park. Our neighbours from surrounding areas came to show their support too, including: The Mayor of Wells and his wife; The Deputy Mayor of Glastonbury and other local notable council staff and members who came to help mark the occasion. We are so grateful for the kind words and joy it has so clearly brought to those who’ve missed the park since it’s been shut.

One of the young folks attending, Oliver, aged 15, had the following contribution: “I’m so happy the skatepark is open. I only live 5 minutes away and I’ve been having to go to Glastonbury. I heard it was opening again on Facebook and I love coming here… I started out as one of the younger ones and now I’m one of the older ones.” – We imagine Oliver will be just the kind of role model the younger skaters will be happy to learn from and skate alongside!

***HAPPY SKATING!!!***
