After a teaching career in Hampshire and Somerset I moved to Brookside School and stayed there for 23 years. I became Deputy Head in 1991 and then Headteacher in 2004. During my time as Head I managed a major building development and had numerous successes locally, nationally and internationally. I was proud, and surprised, to be awarded a CBE for services to Education in 2014. However my greatest joy always was being with the children and I delight in seeing them develop into confident, successful young people and adults.
I retired from the school in 2014. Having served the children and families of Street for so long, I wanted to continue that service and so I joined the Parish Council in 2015. I am enjoying the challenges that this brings and learning lots more about our community.
I moved to Street in 2008 with my husband. I have two grown up children, one is married with two children, and lives in Street. The other is married with one child and lives in Surrey. Retirement also provides many more welcome opportunities to spend time with my grandchildren.
I enjoy helping to improve facilities and quality of life in Street, so my favourite parts of Parish Council life are working with the Merriman Park Community Group, chairing the Play Areas Working Group and chairing the Christmas Committee.
I also play an active part in Street Twinning Committee, visiting Gravenchon and Isny regularly. I love all kinds of craft, cooking and travelling. There is not much time for anything else!
