Street Parish Council’s Proclamation of King Charles III

Street Parish Council and local residents met for the reading of the Proclamation of King Charles III and his Accession to the throne on Sunday 11th September 2022, in the Library gardens, Street.

Read by Chair of Council, Cllr Laura Wolfers, and attended by members of the council; the local police force; various representatives from community support groups and local residents ranging from six months old to over one hundred, it was a very poignant and special occasion to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the succession of the throne to King Charles III.

A copy of the Proclamation read out can be found attached as an historic record of the day along with pictures and a video of the event.

The book of condolence was passed around for signing and it was a good opportunity for residents to meet and reflect on the events which had arisen.

You will be able to sign the book of condolence at Street Library during opening hours and, we welcome those who cannot come in person or email, to call the Parish Rooms on 01458 440588 where we will be happy to write in the book on their behalf.

On the 18th September at 6pm a Civic church service will take place at Trinity Church in Street.

Monday 19th September will be a public holiday to mark the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
