The Street Society

The Street Society was a local organisation run by local people who care about the village of Street in Somerset.

The society was founded in 2001 by an enthusiastic group of people who recognised the need for a constituted body to take an interest in Street.

Unfortunately this group has now disbanded.

Parish Council and shop keepers hide bears

The shops in Street High Street have been hiding  Christmas bears for the past three weeks. Eagle-eyed children and their parents have been scouring shop windows to spot the numbers on the bears’ hats and entering  Street Parish Council’s Shop Window Competition. All the correct entries were put into a draw and the lucky winner was Levi Buxton.
“It was fun to do,” said Levi,”we went out three times to finish it, and it was even, more fun to win.”
Cllrs. Claire Axten and Nina Swift were able to deliver the festive Christmas hamper to the Buxton household in time for the big day.
Street Parish Council would like to thank the large number of retailers who took part, particularly Crispin Crafts who housed the collection box for entries, and all those who entered.
